Well ironic that today was "white" because there is white everywhere. And this white snow didn't stop us from having some fun today! Bringing in the new year and a new little one!

With Words https://www.missykayexpressions.com/blog/2018/1/with-words

With words? Today is supposed to be with words, well I would like to post about a special friend of mine who I can't describe with words. There are so many different words I would have to use! An all of them would be positive words. How do you describe your friends with words?

with - accompanied by (another person or thing).

word - a single distinct meaningful element of speech or writing, used with others (or sometimes alone) to form a sentence and typically shown with a space on either side when written or printed.

Practice https://www.missykayexpressions.com/blog/2018/1/practice As I was considering practice, I thought about how we practice things everyday. Whether we thing we are an expert or not, we practice what we do everyday, no matter what we are doing. We practice washing the dishes, folding laundry, driving. We are putting into practice what we have learned. This is a shot of a Navy ship heading out to practice what they had been training and preparing to do while they were in the shipyard. Keep practicing and one day it will become a natural habit!

prac·tice - the actual application or use of an idea, belief, or method as opposed to theories about such application or use.

Improvise https://www.missykayexpressions.com/blog/2018/1/improvise When I first think about improve, I think about the improve group at the university I went to. They had quite a few events and I was friends with many of them. They often talked about practice that they did. As I contemplated what they do with their improve performance, I realized that I did some of the same things they do in photography. Many times they would have a guest come on stage and assist with their performance or they would take information from the audience. As a photographer of children, improve is very similar. When working with children, sometimes they are not cooperative. There are some that you can talk to and tell a story that makes them smile, others you have to sing a song or even play some music to get them to dance and smile. Working with children in a daycare setting and as an artist, I have learned that the way you think something is going to go that involves children, is not always going to go that way, so you have to improvise and try something that may not work, until you find out that it does! Using what you have around you is important what ever you are doing. Be creative and improvise something you thought wasn't going to work.

im·pro·vise - create and perform (music, drama, or verse) spontaneously or without preparation.

im·pro·vise - produce or make (something) from whatever is available.

A Word https://www.missykayexpressions.com/blog/2018/1/a-word So for todays post I started thinking about it, and I started thinking about words. How do I portray a word. I am very literal at times so I was thinking one word, how do I portray one word? Do I go out and take a picture of a word on the street. Since my daughter has been born I had taken quite a few pictures of her so you may see quite a few of them as I am not always able to go out and take a picture everyday. (I'm told I should be resting after having a baby, but I'm a busy body!) As I was contemplating this, I was thinking about somethings and realized I captured THE Word during my daughters newborn photos. My hope for her and everyone is that you will know this verse well.

"I will praise thee; for I am fearfully and wonderfully made: marvelous are thy works; and that my soul knoweth right well." Psalms 139:14

Know that you were made by God's hand and you are wonderfully made.

Welcome 2018 - The Beginning https://www.missykayexpressions.com/blog/2018/1/welcome-2018---the-beginning

So have you ever set a new year resolution? How long have you kept up with your resolutions?

Last year I did not make it very far, not far at all. As you can see I posted one photo on the first, (a whole year ago!)

Well this year I have a plan! It still may not get me very far, (so you might be seeing the same post next year) We will see! The most important thing I have heard about resolutions, diets and any other long term goal, is to give your self grace. Not everyone can be perfect all the time! So strive for perfection, but give your self grace for the moments when you are not.

Today is "The Beginning", and I recently gave birth to my daughter. So what better way to portray the beginning than to show the beginning of her life.

be·gin·ning - the point in time or space at which something starts.

2017 Photo Challenge https://www.missykayexpressions.com/blog/2017/1/2017-photo-challene

It is now 2017, I am hoping that this year I can challenge my self to grow in my photography journey. I say journey because as a photographer you are always learning new things and finding different ways to take better pictures. If you have been taking pictures for a short amount of time or most of your life (like me) you can always learn something new and change something about what they way you choose too photograph. As we move though life we are met with different ways of doing things. We have choices in many areas that affect us and our perceptions to what we see and how we see. Follow me in my journey along this year as I grow in different aspects of my images. Today I will post an image of a photo shoot I did yesterday. This first post is what I learned about layering. I was able to add different layers to this shot in order to create more dimension to the image. I was so excited how this one turned out this little one was so wonderful and I was able to get some shots of her away and happy.
